Yarn
- You may choose any yarn/yarn combination that meets gauge. I recommend using a sport/dk weight or any combinations of yarns that would produce a sport/dk weight thickness, held with two strands of lace weight silk mohair yarn.
- The larger orange sample (size 3) uses one strand of unspun yarn (sport weight) held with two strands of silk mohair throughout - including the pom pom. The size 2 grey/pink sample uses two strands of wool lace weight yarn held together and two strands of silk mohair held together - all together 4 strands held together. Orange Sample Uses:
- Honer Och Eir - Nutiden: 100% Wool, 100g. Sample uses colorway Harden.
- Nerdy Fibers - Echo: 72% mohair, 28% silk. 459yds per 50g skein. Sample uses colorway Toffee. Grey/pink Sample Uses:
- La Bien Aimee - Helix: 75% Falkland Merino 25% Gotland Wool. 710yds per 100g skein. Sample uses colorway Bois de Rose.
- Knitting for Olive - Soft Silk Mohair: 70% kid mohair, 30% silk. 246yds per 25g ball. Sample uses colorway Rose Clay. - All sizes will use less than 100g of your fingering/dk weight yarn and less than 50g of your lace weight silk mohair yarn.
Needles
- 3.25mm / US 3 for rib brim
- 4.0mm / US 6 for main fabric
- 16” Circular needles for knitting in the round, and 32” circular needles for magic loop or DPNs for top crown decreases.
Gauge
- 17 stitches and 20 rounds in 4”/10cm in Brioche fabric knit in the round.
- To find your guage, count the visible columns of brks - 2 rnds of brioche rib is actually “one round” in terms of the gauge
- Adjust needles size to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
- Stitch markers
- Optional: pom pom maker. I used the Clover 1-5/8” pom pom maker when designing this pattern in both the samples.
