This is my first pattern, and I enjoyed working this out as I went along. I am one who wants to make sure both sides look even, so the two sides of the bow are worked individually, then sewn together. This can be made to fit a variety of head sizes by increasing or decreasing the length of the band.

The band can be done by crocheting it as well; you would follow the same pattern given for knitting the band. I preferred the stretchy-ness of knitting the band over crocheting it, so the band pattern is written for knitting.
