These mittens are knit in the round. Remember that when you are knitting in the round, you are knitting every round to create the stockinette stitch. You are not alternating knit and purl rows like you do when you are flat knitting. The ribbing is worked as usual, alternating knit and purl stitches on each round, knitting the knits and purling the purls.
