Knit flat and seamed, the topper starts with a picot cast on (instructions given for cast on). The four-row pattern is easy and quickly memorized. Two rows use yarnovers, the other two are purled. The stitch’s texture comes from lifting one stitch out of three over the other two stitches – in effect clustering these stitches. The crown is knit in stockinette stitch to simplify shaping.
