Tooth Fairy Friend
Update: I included an embroidery tutorial in the Highlights portion of my Instagram account (@rovingandmirth).
This is a pattern for a quick, cute project: the making of a tooth-shaped cushion designed to facilitate transactions with the Tooth Fairy. The small object is knitted flat and seamed, but I encourage you to knit in the round if that is your preferred method. A little currency pocket is worked flat and sewn to the back. The eye embroidery and the tiny crown are optional embellishments. The finished pillow measures 7.5” high. Using size US 7 needles and Aran weight yarn yields a little cushion with the height of about 5”.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 10 / 6.0 mm knitting needles
Pair US 4 / 3.5mm knitting needles (crown)
Embroidery needle
MATERIALS:
20g Bulky White, 2g Sport or Worsted Metallic
Small Amt. Embroidery Thread (Black & Grey)
Quality Toy Stuffing (Wool or Poly-fill)
GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn is heavier than recommended for the size of your chosen needles. Using Aran weight yarn and size US 7 needles produces a pillow that measures about 5” high.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, along with casting on, casting off, simple increases, decreases, yarn-over, and seaming using mattress and ladder stitches. Embroidery techniques include chain and back stitches.
