This pattern is for an overlay mosaic crochet square that can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc.

Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.

The sample image uses 4 colors of yarn - one for the background and golden yellow, green & tan/camel for the pineapple. You could also use variegated yarn for the background, or use 2-3 colors of yarn to create a striped or gradient background. The green & yellow parts are done during the A rows and the background and tan pineapple lines are done during the B rows.

This is a great way to use up scraps! You will need approximately 2 oz for the the A rows & the B rows, if using a worsted or aran (wt 4) type of yarn.
