This is a very basic pattern, easy to knit, and knits quickly. Top-down cardigans this easy are so basic, I hardly think anyone can claim them as original, but I published it on my blog, so it’s copyrighted by my employer, Gannett Corp. You may visit the blog as many times as you like to print out copies, though you can’t make copies by photocopying.

This sweater fits my Springfield doll and my Madame Alexander doll, so I am assuming that it will fit an American Girl doll, but I have not actually tried it on an AG doll.

I also made this pattern with Bernat Satin. It works fine, but if you are using the worsted weight (not Satin Sport), work your way down the yoke to 30 stitches per sleeve, not 36. It fits all my 18-inch dolls pretty well.
