This shawl is crocheted top down. I created this pattern to get the color changes of a variegated yarn to follow the shawls edges, instead of getting the horizontal striping that a bottom up pattern would result in. So, the skulls are crocheted top down and there is a backbone border in the middle of the shawl.
It’s a simple pattern with easy stitches, nothing but chain stitches, single crochets and double crochets. Just keep crocheting as many skulls as you want and then add the finishing border.
