Top Gun is a short cardigan, knitted in one piece, starting from the bottom of the back. It has a v-neck and long, slightly narrow sleeves. The design encourages experimentation with different yarn qualities. We used the following yarns: Handdyed Fat Mohair, Mohair Bouclé, Suri Alpaca/Silk, and Bulky Alpaca Bouclé. The yarns are changed continuously and at random, even mid-row.
The cardigan is knitted in stockinette stitch, beginning at the bottom of the back. Once the lower part of the back is knitted, stitches are increased on both sides for the sleeves. When you reach the shoulders, the middle stitches are bound off for the neck, and the front pieces are knitted separately while the sleeve stitches are bound off. Finally, ribbed edges are knitted at the bottom, along the front edges, and on the sleeves.
