Tornado Toes
The Tornado Toes socks have a stretchy spiraling rib pattern, which makes it possible to just knit a ‘tube’ sock without a heel. The rib stretches to fit your heel. This also means that the socks will be able to fit kids as they grow, as there is no fixed heel placement.
This type of sock is also very suitable for wheelchair users for example, as it is much easier to put these socks on since you don’t need to pay attention to where the heel is.
I recommend using Scheepjes Downtown as it is a fun selfstriping yarn that will make these socks super fun! You will need 1x50g ball for kid socks, and 2x50g balls for teen-adult socks.
The pattern comes in three sizes: kid - teen - adult.
The kid and teen sizes only differ in recommended length, the width is the same. For adults with small feet, the kid/teen pattern may also fit them.
There is no gauge listed as it is very difficult to measure gauge on this super stretchy fabric. I recommend just casting on for your size. Due to the stretchiness of the fabric it is very likely that the sock will fit. If the sock is too loose, use smaller needles/yarn or less stitches. If the sock is too tight, use bigger needles/yarn or more stitches.
The cuff is 1x1 rib and the recommended bind off is Lori’s Twisty Bind Off. All instructions are included in the pattern.
