TORONTO SWEATER
When I first felt the squishy, voluminous The Petite Wool in my hands I immediately wanted to make a warm, cosy sweater with great stitch definition and saddle shoulders. The result is the Toronto Sweater, named after the cool capital city of Ontario, Canada. I once lived in Canada, and on my day of leaving the country, the temperature dropped to -20 degrees Celcius. What better weather for a warm sweater?!
The sweater is an easy, quick knit (knit on 8 mm needles for the most part), knit top-down starting with a neck-hugging polo neck, followed by saddle shoulder increases and moss stitches and an easy lace pattern over the front and back. Later there are increases at the armpits to give a fitted shape. Both body and sleeves are finished with Italian bind off to give a stretchy feel.
I hope you’ll enjoy your #torontosweater as much
as I have enjoyed designing it!
Happy knitting!

SIZES
The sweater pattern comes in 5 different sizes; XS to XL and with a chest circumference between 85 to 110 cm depending on size. The sweater is designed as a relatively fitted knit with 3-6 cm positive ease. If you want a wider fit, you can choose a larger size, but bear in mind that the saddle shoulders will also become wider.
It’s a top-down design, meaning that you can easily adjust the length of body and sleeves after your preferences.
MATERIALS NEEDED
I have used the wonderful The Petite Wool from we are knitters for the pattern in Skylovers colourway (140 m/100 g). For each size you’ll need the following skeins:
XS: 500 g
S: 500 g
M: 500-600 g
L: 600 g
XL: 700 g
ALTERNATIVE YARN BASES
There are of course many yarn options with a similar gauge. For a second version of the sweater I have used the following yarn bases:
Malabrigo Merino Worsted - 192 m / 100 g.
Silkmohair from By Emra (who is not listed here in Ravelry) - 420 m / 50 g.
Stellaris from Kremke Soul Wool - 525 m / 25 g to give the blouse a sparkle.
