Here in Kimberley we don’t have much connection to the “outside world.” We catch the tail-end of fashion and decor trends we see on the internet. This forces us to resort to creativity and turn what we admire in passing into something timeless. A lot of our inspiration comes from combining functionality with things we pick up in pop culture or in magazines.
The name “Totally Tubular Top and Skirt” was actually inspired by the second season of one of my favourite television series, Stranger Things … and the fact that one of the pattern options is for a tube top. It was written to have multiple functions so people could choose to make a summer top, an all-season skirt, or both as a two piece set, all from the same framework. It could be dressy or casual, colourful or neutral … really, the possibilities are endless. Totally tubular, eh?
