Inspired by the old Newfoundland English word for soft and fluffy, Towy (pronounced “t-ow-ee”) is a warm hug for persistently chilly hands. These fingerless mittens are designed to make the most out of your mohair lace scraps, holding them together with sport or heavier sock weight yarns. Knit up in an all-over 1x1 rib, the fabric sits snuggly with significant negative ease, making them perfect for wearing indoors.

NOTES
While the sample uses a sport weight yarn held with a strand of suri alpaca lace, you could definitely get away with a heavy weight sock yarn (held with mohair) or even a DK (held without mohair). Experiment with your scraps!

Don’t be alarmed if you mitten looks like a skinny little tube, the ribbing will provide an incredible amount of stretch. I suggest trying the mitten on once you have worked the cuff to ensure that it will fit over your hand. If your cast on edge is too tight, go up a full needle size for the cast on before switching back to your main needle. Use the cuff as your gauge swatch!
