Aran cable knitting originated off the west coast of Ireland within the boundaries of its namesake home, the Aran Islands – a neat group of Gaeltacht isles nestled in the cold, restless waters of the Atlantic; their history long, rich and holding tight to an Irish-speaking status to this day. It is here that the ‘Aran Jumper’ hails from, this notable knitwear incorporating the very techniques created in inspiration from the surrounding environment.

This aran scarf features a moss stitch, fishermans rope cable, and a series of zig-zags. Designed in a traditional style, the zig-zag acts as the centre panel and is mirroring the famous zig-zag that is depicted on the Wild Atlantic Way signage throughout the west of Ireland. Flanking the zig-zag is the fishermans rope cable - a very popular stitch in aran knitwear. Lastly, lining the outer edges of the scarf is the moss stitch.

Whether you’re taking a trip along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland or in your own corner of the world, this scarf will keep you warm wherever you end up next.
