Traditions (American Samoa)
This sock is inspired by the American Samoa tradition of making bark cloth - in particular, by a museum exhibit, and a cloth from 1839. While the Islands are lovely and tropical (you know, palms, beaches, ferns, mountains) the Samoan tradition of making the bark cloth is an ongoing and unique part of family life.
