Traffic Island Socks
An easy chevron and lace sock pattern, knit from the top down.
Please note: if you choose to replace the yo with a knit front and back, or other non-eyelet increase, you will need to make a larger size. A knit fb will not have the same stretch as an eyelet and therefore will make a tighter sock.
Well, 16 years after writing my first (this) pattern, I’ve had a message (March ‘25) from a tech editor who pointed out a few wrong things, one being:
The definition of “ssk” is incorrect. The definition in the pattern is - Ssk - slip 1 st, slip 1 more st, knit both slipped stitches together. If you slip them purlwise, as indicated, you get a k2tog.
The correct description for “ssk” should be - Ssk - slip 1 st knitwise, slip 1 more st knitwise, knit both slipped sts through the back loop.
I wish I had someone being this detail oriented when I was actually writing it up all those years ago!
Ach well, who says an old dog can’t learn new tricks! ;)
