Trailblazer Toque
This unisex toque/beanie is super warm and snuggly, with chunky yarn worked into a thick, braided cable around the band. While it is better suited to an intermediate to advanced crocheter, you will find that once you understand the pattern, it works up very quickly and makes for a classic, sophisticated-looking hat that will look amazing even in the most basic neutral colors.
To complete this pattern, you will need to know how to work into the 3rd loop of hdc’s to create a horizontal ridge. If you’re not familiar with this technique, there are many good tutorials available online.
A lot of people had trouble with counting their stitches on the test pattern, so I have added both photos and a series of step-by-step charts to help visualize the cable stitch patterns. I feel confident that this should clear up any questions, but if you have any trouble, please feel to contact me for pattern support via ravelry or facebook.
