Trailing Ivy Cardigan
This asymmetric cardigan is inspired by the way trailing ivy follows the light from the sun. It features chunky cables worked in short-rows to create the attractive curve around the neck.
The matching cable is also used for the sleeves, where its size increases slowly to give the visual illusion of a slightly-flared sleeve.
The technique is concentrated on the cables around the collar, with the rest knitted in stocking stitch. This is an enjoyable, ‘brain-teaser’ project that will reward you with a beautiful cardigan!

Needles & Accessories
For the body and edging use the following needles:
1 set of 5mm (UK 6/US 8) cir needles
1 set of 4.5mm (UK 7/US 7) cir needles
For sleeves, use the following needles. If you can work the Magic Loop method with cir needles you don’t need DPNs:
1 set of 5mm (UK 6/US 8) DPNs
1 set of 4.5mm (UK 7/US 7) DPNs
8 markers
Waste yarn
Cable needles
1 x large button (approx 3.5cm diameter)
Pattern Notes
The main body is worked flat, with a cir needle used to accommodate the large number of stitches and curve of the raglan. Sleeves are worked in the round using DPNs. If a cir needle is used to work the sleeves, use the Magic Loop method where necessary.
