This hat is made in two pieces, the rise and the crown. You should know how to do the Provisional Cast On, grafting/Kitchener stitch, pick up stitches on the edge, pick up stitches from previously knitted round, knit in the round with DNP.

A bit of crocheting is in the pattern. It is a simple chain stitch and slip stitch. This can be replaced with an I-cord.
