The TRAME scarf is named after the “weft,” one of the essential elements of weaving. This knitted design recreates the look of woven fabric, where the interplay of colors and the use of the intarsia technique play a crucial role in the trompe-l’œil effect. One of my favorite fashion designers, Martin Margiela, has consistently blended form, function, and technique throughout his career, an approach that inspires this design.

Knitted in stockinette stitch with 2 strands of Louise yarn by Emilia & Philomene (sport fluffy weight) on 8 mm (US 11) needles.
12 sts x 17 rows = 10.16 cm / 4 inches after blocking

Main yarn: Louise by Emilia & Philomene / Sport fluffy weight
100 g = 400 m / 437 yards
38% baby alpaca / 37% Pima cotton / 25% merino
4 skeins needed

Colors:
You will need a little less than one skein per color (between 350 and 400m).
CC1 Natural / CC2 Majorelle / CC3 Rita / CC4 Rêve nocturne

Needles and Tools
8 mm (US 11) circular or straight needles with a 75 cm / 30 in cable.
A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

Le foulard TRAME tire son nom du fil de trame, l’un des éléments essentiels du tissage. Ce modèle en tricot recrée l’apparence d’un tissu tissé, où le mélange de couleurs et la technique d’intarsia utilisée jouent un rôle crucial dans l’effet trompe-l’œil. L’un de mes designers de mode favoris, Martin Margiela, a su tout au long de sa carrière mélanger forme, fonction, et technique, une approche qui inspire ce design.
