Tramontane
Tramontane is available through CustomFit, which means that each Tramontane pattern is created specifically to your choice of measurements and gauge.
Tramontane is one of the initial designs in CustomFit’s “straight sweaters” release.
Is there anything more classic than a crew-neck pullover? Tramontane is a basic sweater that’s perfect for just about anyone. It can be made in any gauge you like, for any person you like, and is a great basic pattern to dress up if that’s the kind of knitter you are.
Since Tramontane has no waist shaping, it also makes the perfect blank slate onto which you can put any stitch pattern you like. (Just be sure to enter your gauge in the pattern stitch you’ve chosen!)
Tramontane will use your ‘average’ sweater and long sleeve lengths, and features a crew neckline that’s 3.5’’ (16.5cm) deep. Simple 1x1 ribbing trims all edges. Jackie is wearing the sample sweater with a woman’s average fit.
I used Harrisville Designs Watershed for this sample, in the color “Granite”, at a gauge of 17 sts and 24 rows to 4’’ (10 cm). But CustomFit will create your pattern to the gauge you specify - and for that reason, it’s difficult to give any kind of yardage advice! To estimate how much yarn you’ll need, I strongly recommend the “Stashbot” app or pamphlet by Hannah Fettig.
