XL – adult, fits head circumference: 59-61 cm (23-24″).
That is, according to this pattern, you can knit a hat for both a child and an adult.
And the main thing is that by choosing the appropriate color of yarn, you can knit such a hat for both a boy and a girl. Moreover, a hat with this pattern is suitable for both men and women.

Instructions are given for circular needles. Circular needles give a seamless and professional looking result. However all you need to do is follow the chart.
This knitting pattern is designed for Alize Lanagold yarn. But I also give you my own recommendations on how to make calculations and knit exactly such hat from an alternative yarn of Group B (8 ply / aran / /DK / worsted).
Yarn required: med, worsted or Aran, with label reading 19 stitches by 17 rows = 4” or 10cm square using circular knitting needles size 4 mm = US 6

SKILLS TO USE
Knitting in the round, knit stitch, purl stitch, knit decreases.
YARN:
Alize Lanagold: 49 % wool, 51 % acrylic. In 100 g – 240 m (262 yds.).
You can use any other yarn of similar thickness (wool yarn Group B / 8 ply / aran / DK / worsted) also.
You need about 50/55/60/65 g or 120/132/144/156 m (131/144/157/170 yds.) of dominant color yarn and 25/25/30/35 g or 60/60/72/84 m (66/66/79/92 yds.) of background color yarn.

NEEDLES:

1. circular needles size 3.25 mm = US 3: length 40 cm = 16’’ (for rib);
2. circular needles size 4 mm = US 6: length 40 cm = 16’’ (for stranded pattern) and 80 cm = 32’’ (for crown shaping). The length of the circular needles is only my recommendation. You can use circular needles of another length convenient for you.
