When things get stressful and intense, comfort can be found in hooks and yarn. With straightforward rows of neat stitches that slowly grow into a gorgeous finished object, the Tranquil Waters Beanie is intended to act as a port in the storm. It’s entirely mindless, with minimal counting and shaping, and the pops of texture provide the perfect mental break.

The pattern as stated has three evenly-spaced textured rows. Notes are included for adding more/less textured rows and to place the rows anywhere in the pattern. There are also instructions for making the beanie longer/shorter as well as for adjusting the width of the brim.

Sample
Samples uses Miss Babs Yowza in Dunk, 127yds/51g in Dunk to create a size Child/Teen.

Yarn, Yardage, and Other Materials
The pattern is most visible in a solid or tonal yarn. A lightly variegated or speckled yarn can add loads of visual interest and add an excellent contrast to the simplicity of the beanie.

The pattern calls for 75-235yds/30-95g worsted weight yarn; 75yds/30g for size Preemie, 87yds/35g for size Baby/Toddler, 119yds/48g for size Child, 136yds/55g for size Child/Teen, 161yds/65g for size Adult S, 198yds/80g for size Adult M, 235yds/95g for size Adult L; yardage will vary with any modifications made.

1-3 stitch markers are recommended, but not required, and you can optionally add a faux fur pom.

Modifications & Adjustments
The beanie can be made to size by working more/less rows. Adjust the placement of the textured rows, work more/less textured rows. Make the beanie longer/shorter, and adjust the length of the brim.

Printing
Both a regular and printer friendly version are available! The regular version includes large photos on the first page and the last three pages, so print accordingly. The printer-friendly version has only one photo on the cover page, and less spacing so the pattern takes up fewer pages. If you are working from the printer-friendly version and are having trouble with a pattern, I strongly recommend checking the regular version. The text will be easier to read and it might have more detailed instructions.

Screen Reader Compatibility
The main pattern pdf is designed to be screen reader compatible. The text is all in one column and headers are formatted according to the style sheet. The pattern is written out and the images have descriptive alt text. Please note that the pattern uses standard abbreviations (like dc, sc, ch, and st) rather than fully writing out each word. Size information is provided in a table, but is also listed in text form. Please note that the pattern has multiple sizes. When relevant, instructions for larger sizes are given in parentheses. For example, sc 5 (10, 15, 20).
