Yarn, colors, and yardage
The Tranquil Waters Shawl uses just one skein (550yds/225g) of Miss Babs Yowza. The twist on Yowza makes for absolutely incredible stitch definition and the pattern is designed to take advantage of that.
The flat parts of the shawl are perfect for showing off your favorite busy colorways, but the textured bits get somewhat obscured with color variegation. The interplay of color variegation and texture is intentional and part of the shawl’s beauty, but it’s up to you if you want the same look or if you’d rather work with a tonal. The pattern works especially well with a gradient or tonal as it can be worked to size. You can also work the textured rows in a contrast color - see the tester projects for details!

The pattern is designed for worsted weight yarn but works well with almost any weight.

Size
When gauge is met, 550yds will net a shawl that measures approximately 53” along the top edge, 41” along the longer bottom edge, and 33” along the shorter bottom edge. From the center top of the shawl to the point measures about 24.5”.

Customization
The pattern includes exact row-by-row instructions for making the shawl as is, with one skein of Yowza. There are also instructions for working the shawl based on the percentage of yarn used, so you can get the same look using any weight and yardage. In addition, the pattern has notes explaining how to completely customize the shawl by adding textured rows whenever the mood strikes.
