SHOW YOUR PRIDE! For yourself or your beloveds! The initial Trans Pride Transitions cowl was inspired by the Trans Pride flag. After multiple requests, I adapted the pattern for other awesome Pride flags. I like the TRANSITIONS theme for all because hopefully we are ALL gaining a better understanding of the fluidity and expansiveness of both gender identity and sexual orientation. AND may we be TRANSITIONING to a new way of non-binary, non-normative thinking/assuming for ALL!

The ASEXUAL Pride Cable Cowl uses 4 colors of dk weight yarn. Kits are available through our online store here. Patterns included with kit and here on Ravelry are Free because no one should charge you to EXPRESS YOUR PRIDE!

About the Cowl and pattern: The cowl is knit from the 4 colors of the Asexual Pride flag. The colors shift from black to grey to white to purple with cables weaving the colors together. The cowl has a garter stitch border on both sides (where you knit every row) with reverse stockinette fabric between borders and cables (where you purl on right side, knit on wrong side). The three two color cables are always knit on the right side and purled on the wrong side. Provisionally cast on and grafted at the end. Pattern instructions include written out directions as well as a chart for those who prefer that. I have also included stitch by stitch instructions for grafting in pattern (and color).

This cowl requires dk weight yarn:

  • 25 grams black
  • 25 grams grey
  • 25 grams white
  • 25 grams purple

Gauge is not really essential to this project. The main thing is that the fabric is solid and not holey, but not overly rigid. Go up or down in needle size as makes sense to you.

Finished garment: approx. 8 3/4” tall by 11 3/4” wide (about 24” long before folded & grafted together).
