The Transitory Cowl is the small friend of the Transitory Wrap. While the Imprint Cowl invited us to reflect on memories that left an impact on us, the Transitory patterns reminds us that for better or worse, everything changes. If you stay the course, something new will come. This kite-shaped cowl is full of movement and intrigue. It invites you to spend some time in the present moment, by working up bold color blocks and mindful stitches on the bias. If blanket-adjacent shawls aren’t your thing, but you still want to embrace the Transitory vibes, this stash-busting cowl is for you.
This is an advanced intermediate level pattern. The pattern is written in standard US crochet terms. It comes in one size.
Dimensions:
Width: 15” (37.5 cm)
Length: 23” to 26” (57.5 to 65 cm)
Neck depth: 7” to 7.5” (17.5 to 18.8 cm)
Here’s what you’ll need:
Hook: 4 mm
Yarn: DK weight yarn in 3 colors (although sport work work, too!) – I used approximately 3 skeins of DK by the Frosted Stitch (both 230 yards 210 m/100 g and 246 yards 225 m)/100 g were tested). The following are average yardage estimates based on the tester experience:
- Color 1 (solid/tonal): 191 yards (175 m) - 1 skein
- Color 2 (solid/tonal): 224 yards (205 m) -- 1 skein
- Color 3 (variegate/solid/tonal): 172 yards (157 m) -- 1 skein
