Beyond the Pattern
Creating shapes within entrelac, while very interesting, contains its own challenges. By dint of being done in modular tiers, there isn’t quite as much control in the overall end shape since with normal knitting you don’t make gradual one-stitch-at-a-time increases or decreases, but accomplish changes in larger increments.

Travel Neck Pillow is made via a 6-star center with tiers radiating out. Coming off the needles, the disk has considerable ruffle, but when folded in half and stuffed, it creates a crescent shape. For more detailed entrelac instructions, see the Stitch Anatomy article, “Entrelac,” in this issue.
