SQUARE NUMBER 9 for the Traveling Crochet afghan! I’ve named this square Year in Reflection. Although very basic in construction, the design concept and inspiration is what I truly hope to convey.

Year in Reflection finds inspiration in the subtleties of both the words ‘yarn’ and ‘life’ which is why they are worked in bead stitch on a basic double crochet background with a single color yarn. The words don’t immediately jump out at you but are ever present.

My favorite detail is the addition of the Roman numeral for 2020 which for me serves as a time stamp for the few weeks when most the world stopped as well as instantly ensuring far-reaching descendants know from whence their heirloom piece came.
