I’m so excited to be participating in Lion Brand’s My Life in Yarn campaign with the knit version of the Traveling Afghans! As you all know, this beautiful afghan has traveled to ten different places around the world so far, and here it is in California right now! It was truly surreal opening the package and seeing all the amazing squares.. I literally had the biggest smile on my face as I recognized each square and the designer who knit them!

THE PATTERN

The Waffle Stitch was the very first stitch pattern I learned and knitting this square has been super nostalgic! It’s the perfect stitch for beginners to learn how to knit and purl and also how to keep track of row repeats.

MATERIALS
Lion Brand Wool-Ease (pictured in Fisherman), or any comparable worsted weight yarn
Yardage: 1.2 oz / 34 g used, approximately 80 yds
US 8 (5mm) knitting needles
Stitch markers for seaming
Tapestry needle
Scissors
