1 Main Color yarn plus 3 Contrasting Color yarns, mainly worsted weight but with one bulky highly textured yarn, and one yarn composed of a strand of sport weight yarn worked with a strand of fine kid mohair (these together resulted in a worsted weight—what O what might you have in your stash that you could do this with too? With my stash the possibilities abound;) 80 yards Main Color (I used hand dyed Brown Sheep Company Lamb’s Pride) used in band and to knit hat body; 30 yards each of Contrasting Color yarns.
The buckle is an Annie’s Sweet Original, used as a focal point but a knitted or felted flower would work, or anything else.
