Modern and comfortable, this beautiful openwork cowl, inspired by trails and tire treads, will be your new favourite outerwear accessory. Follow your own winding path and blaze your own trail with the Treading Lightly Winter Cowl.

Designed using a simple yarn over stitch pattern this cowl was knit in the round so there is literally no seaming required. This is an easy pattern for the beginner knitter and a great introduction to more open and lacy stitched garments.

A Decade of Patterns - The Canon Years

Originally designed in 2019 this lovely knitted accessory has gone through quite a transformation. When I was a newbie knitter I absolutely loved super bulky yarn, and of course, big needles to match. So, the Treading Lightly Winter Cowl was originally knit with Lionbrand’s WoolEase yarn on US 11 (8.0 mm) knitting needles. Why the change? As I progressed as a knitter and designer I decided it was best to refine some of my older patterns. I wanted to make them easier to knit by changing a few stitches here or there or use a different type of yarn to give them a more polished and professional look. A designer’s work is never done… upskilling and improving on what you already know are great building blocks for success.
