Tree Hugger Shrug
Choosing Yarn
Tree Hugger uses fingering weight yarn. (A perfect choice for that single skein of sock yarn you’ve been saving.) This design will work best with a solid to lightly tonal yarn. Busy yarns will prevent the leaf cables from being visible.
Construction
The Tree Hugger shrug is knit in two pieces from the cuff toward the center of the back. Once each piece is complete they are grafted together with a kitchener stitch to form a seamless look.
Sizing
The sizes for this shrug are flexible. How severely you block the finished piece will have a drastic impact. The smallest size, which is shown in the photos, can fit an extra small to medium frame. To achieve an XS only very lightly steam block the piece. For a size medium wet block the piece to 6 sts and 8 rows per inch. The same applies to the larger size, which can fit size medium to extra large, or even XXL if blocked far enough.
Conclusion
The “grasshopper” yarn colorway was inspired by the cocktail of the same name. When your Tree Hugger is complete sit bak and relax with one of these cocktails or a non-alcoholic mint milkshake. You’ll find the recipes for both on the final page.
