The Tree Line Shawl is a crescent-shaped shawl worked from the center-top down using a combination of two-color brioche rib stitch and an original two-color brioche stitch pattern. This pattern can be easily customized to achieve a desired size.

The stitch pattern used in this shawl is a variation of my dendritic stitch pattern. This variation is reminiscent of small trees, and the pattern was designed and named for the phenomenon of trees disappearing at high elevations.

I really hope you enjoy the pattern!

Pattern is provided in written and chart form. Also provided are links to video demonstrations for the cast-on and the brioche decrease stitches.

Finished Size:
Wingspan: 75 in/188 cm
Center Depth: 25 in/64 cm

This pattern can be easily customized to achieve a desired size.

Gauge
20 sts and 26 rows = 4 in/10 cm in the two-color brioche pattern, after blocking.
Gauge is not critical for this shawl but may affect yardage needed to complete the shawl.

Recommended Materials

Yarn
Any fingering weight yarn in two colors, approximately 800 yards/730 per color.

Sample was knit using Salty Blonde Fine Fibers Dulce Fingering 438 yards/401 meters/100 g (100% Superwash Merino) in the Powerfood colorway for the light color and The Blue Brick Killarney Sock Wooly Mammoth 800 yards/730 meters (80/20 Superwash Merino/Nylon) in the Evergreen colorway for the dark color. However, any fingering weight yarn that blocks well should work well for this pattern.
