The Tree Trunk Sweater Male Edition is a European Shoulder Design with a set-in sleeve made top-down with vertical lines of stockinette and purl stitches resembling tree trunk stripes.

The sweater has a suggested positive ease of 7-10 cm 2 ¾ -5 inches}.

The pattern offers in total 9 Sizes: (XS-S) M - L (XL- 2XL- 3XL) 4X-5XL with a circumference of (92-104) 112-120 (128- 140 - 148) 160 - 168 cm or (36¼ - 41) 44- 47 ¼- 50½ (55 - 58 ¼ ) 63 - 66.

Number of bullet skeins needed - 50 grams each:
(10 -11)-13 -14 (15-16-17)-(22-27)

Include an extra bullet skein if you plan to use tummy darts.

This pattern offers design options to tailor your sweater.
The sweater is designed to fit any age, size and body type so you get “many sweaters” in just one pattern as it offers:

• 2 types of neckline (crew/high hiding a I-shirt or neck-tie and a lower neck allowing a neck-tie but still hiding a T-shit)
• Hip shaping
• Tummy shaping

Suggestions to tailor your sweater for a rich upper back or bicep is included.

Besides the neckline you do not need to decide the options upfront. The need for shaping will become apparent when you try on your sweater during the project.

Tools: You use size 4.5 mm US7 circular needles with a suggested length of 60, 80 and 100 cm 24, 32 or 40 inches depending on size and preference. And 3.5 mm US4 circular or double pointed needles for the ribbing. Furthermore, you need stitch markers to help guide the increases and decreases.

Yarn: This sweater is designed using this lovely and soft 100% non-super wash undyed natural wool yarn.

Gauge:
Before blocking:
▪ 24 sts x 27 rows

After blocking the dyed and undyed yarn may have a different sts gauge:
▪ The undyed natural wool is 20 sts x 29 rows.
▪ The dyed wool is 18 sts x 29 rows.

A ribbed pattern will widen during blocking and hence the fabric til shorten. Make your own swatch to get a successful result.

The design is calculated according to the specified gauge of 20 sts x 29 rows. However, if you do not get gauge after blocking I have included a size convertion chart to adjust your size depending on your stitch count.
Before blocking you still aim for 24 sts x 27 rows.
