Treliça Socks
It is that time of year again, when Autumn comes around and the chilly weather teases us to grab a ball of wool yarn to knit cosy socks, to keep us warm in the coming winter.
Every year since 2020, I’ve been hosting Meias de Outono, where I challenge knitters and makers who like to knit or crochet socks, to join me.
Much like previous years, I chose the yarn and let it inspire me!
This Autumn, my choice fell on a self-striping sock yarn beautifully hand-dyed by my dear friend Maria João from Pontinhos ao Vento.
As always, I chose a textured pattern to best showcase the beauty of the stripes, replicating a trellis, to intertwine the colours of each stripe. It is a simple repetition that is easy to memorise and to knit, wherever you are, making it an ideal mindful project to have on the go.
It is knitted from the leg cuff using a German short-row heel and with decreases for the toe. It features a simple and addictive textured pattern that will result in a new pair of socks all knit up before you can say “Winter is coming”!
