Trellis and Triangles
I gave this sweater a lot of thought before realizing that the only way I could achieve the desired effect was to literally turn the whole thing on its ear, and begin at the top and work down to the lower edge. I am really pleased with the result, and I hope you are as well.
The pattern is written in one size. You can achieve smaller or larger sizes by changing your needle size and/or weight of yarn. For best results, please follow all instructions exactly. You can, however, eliminate the gore shaping of the body (which begins on Row 112) and the sleeve (which begins on Row 134) if you would like a less fitted sweater, but keep in mind that you will need to adjust the number of reverse stockinette stitches between motifs accordingly.
Gauge: 5 sts = 1” on size 6 needles
Materials: 1200 yds (900 yds for short-sleeved version) DK or light worsted weight yarn in your choice of fiber
5 5/8” buttons
Needles: size 6 straight and 29” circular
crochet hook size D
DPN for cabling
Begin this feminine cardigan at the shoulders and work your way down, finishing with a flourish by crocheting and binding off the lower edge of the flirty peplum. The princess shaping on the body and sleeves helps the sweater hug the body slightly, flattering many figure types. Choose the long bell sleeve, or the cap sleeve for the warmer months.
