Trellis Waistcoat
Trellis is a fair isle design suitable for a first venture into knitting a steeked garment. The repeats are easy to memorize, the yarn does most of the colourwork, and since there are no sleeves there is no need to deal with stranded knitting on double-pointed needles.
Sizes 30 and 36 take 1 ball of each colour (approx 150 g/ 600 m each). Sizes 42 and 48 take 2 balls of each colour. The yardage is generous to allow for colour management--I chose to remove stretches of a colour now and then to keep the two colours trending in opposite directions.
