Tremblor Jockstrap
My earthquake-themed stitch is too well suited to a jockstrap to resist. Tremblor Jockstrap is cozy, stretchy, and somewhat revealing. It answers the question “what’s shaking?”
It’s also a good project for leftover yarn.
The pattern includes both Regular and Roomy pouch sizes. The Roomy size pouch is longer with a deeper cup.
Sizes:
Regular - 7.5 x 10 in / 19 x 25.5 cm stretched
Roomy - 7.5 x 12 in / 19 x 30.5 cm stretched
Yarn requirements:
Regular pouch - 42.4 yds / 38.7 m worsted
Roomy pouch - 52.3 yds / 47.8 m worsted
Waistband (30 in / 76 cm) - 45 yds / 41 m worsted
Straps (2) - 12.2 yds / 11.2 m worsted
Waistband per additional 1 in / 2.5 cm - 1.5 yds / 1.4 m worsted
Straps (2) per additional 1 in / 2.5 cm of waistband - 15 in / 37 cm worsted
DPNs are optional but they can make joining the pouch, waistband, and straps simpler.
Techniques:
• 2x2 cables
• knit and purl through the back loop (k1tbl, p1tbl)
• knit and purl two stitches together (k2tog, p2tog)
• slip-slip-knit decrease (ssk)
• yarnover
• provisional cast-on
• German short rows
• Kitchener stitch
The pattern is accompanied by a second PDF file of sizes and yarn estimates for waist 27-50 in / 69-127 cm.
