While pondering what to design with this pattern stitch, children in my family remarked that the swatch looked like city buildings after an earthquake. Tremblors!

The Tremblor Shawl is a generous size of my earthquake-themed design, featuring broad columns of cable and lace tremblors radiating outward from twisted stitch ribbed tectonic plates and yarnover fault lines.

Knit at gauge, the pattern sample used exactly three balls of Alba. Bind-off requires roughly 20 yds / 18.3 m so, if needed, omit the last row of the north tectonic plate before binding off.

Techniques:

• 2x2 cables
• knit and purl through the back loop (k1tbl, p1tbl)
• knit and purl two stitches together (k2tog, p2tog)
• slip-slip-knit decrease (ssk)
• yarnover
