As a knitwear designer, one of the biggest challenges can often be how to create something new - something that hasn’t already been done, and that feels fresh or novel (especially as a designer who has a certain fondness for some of the more traditional textures and techniques). If, like me, you’re drawn towards projects that bridge the traditional and the modern, you’re going to love these! What’s more traditional than a cosy cable knit, or a delicate lace motif? Well, here we’ve combined the two and nestled them neatly within the clean straight lines of a stockinette stitch… It’s cosy, delicate, and classic all rolled into one.

The Trent socks are worked from the toe up and instructions for the panel with the cables and eyelets are provided both written and charted. You’ll also find full detailed instructions on how to work a German short row heel, although this can easily be substituted for any alternative heel of your choice.
