This is a pattern for a knit poncho that incorporates both a cable lace stitch and a little known lace-mesh stitch. It is knit from the bottom up on two circular needles.
The wonderful coloration is due to the fact that it was knitted with one of the Unique Sheep’s gradient yarns. This sample was made using their colorway Tress. It is knit using their sport weight yarn which they call Footprints and requires about 1000 - 1100 yards of that yarn. The Footprint yarn allows for some nice added warmth without any heaviness. I think you’ll love the drape of this poncho.
There are instructions contained within the pattern for how to change colors when using gradient yarns, as well as how to finish the neckline with a crocheted edging, should you want to.
The finished size measures: 77 inches at the bottom, has a depth of 24 inches, and the finished neck measures 19 inches. One size fits most women from size 4 through size 14. (Note: The first picture is worn by a woman who wears a size 8 and the second is of a woman that wears a size 14, and there’s one in the middle that’s worn by a woman that wears a size 4).
Skill level: Intermediate (assuming a decent working knowledge of cabling and lace knitting)
The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.
The sample was expertly test knitted by Rachel McKinney who can be contacted at: 100creations ATgmail.com.
