• I wanted bunting which was small enough for letters to be added for messages (otherwise long messages would be yards and yards long!) and with eyelets for stringing so I didn’t have to be crocheting them all together.

• I preferred the look of stocking stitch to plain garter stitch, but wanted a garter stitch border to stop the stockinette rolling up.

• I didn’t want flags which were too narrow because I needed room for the lettering, and also wanted them to look like proper triangles (some tapered slowly then quickly, in a kind of U-shape, which I didn’t think looked right).

Couldn’t find anything on Ravelry, so here is what I did.

The flags knit up surprisingly quickly - I did 26 flags for my knitting group in just three days.
