This pattern was inspired by the venous system within the human body, and from my time as a vascular surgery trainee, operating on veins and arteries.
Veins return blood to the heart, (as opposed to arteries which take blood from the heart to the organs) and while the blood they carry is not blue, it tends to be a darker red than the blood arteries carry. Veins join up with each other to create larger veins, before returning their blood to the heart, much like rivers joining together to flow into the sea. The correct name for their different branches is “Tributaries”, again like rivers and waterways.

This pattern has 4 stitches of seed stitch border on each side, and an extra 2 plain stitches after the final pattern repeat on odd rows to make the shawl symmetrical.

This was available for free for the 1st 10 people but so many people were interested! I release all of my paid patterns for free to the 1st few people so keep an eye on my store.
