Tribute Shawl: European Goldfinch
This is one of a series of knit and crochet accessories that are designed to celebrate the beautiful colors and interesting patterns of the birds we see in our own gardens, and also birds
from all over the world.
The European Goldfinch Tribute shawl is a garter stitch shawl that is knitted from the bottom up, has more increases on the right side and fewer increases on the left side to create the asymmetrical effect. It is designed to be interesting but also not very complicated to knit, the German Short Row technique is used to create the black and red face, the white markings on the black tail and the yellow marking on the side that identifies this beautiful finch in nature. It is also designed to not need very aggressive blocking making it an item you can knit with a high quality acrylic or even cotton blend yarn which is easily machine washable.
Shawl Measurements:
160cm /62 inches long at the top edge and 54 cm/ 21 inches from the tip to the top edge (without blocking).
Materials Needed:
- Knitting Needles: Size 4mm Circular Knitting needles 36inches/90cm long to accommodate the large number of stitches
