Trick or Treat Mitts
Designed for the Helter Skelter Halloween Challenge run by Hobbii Yarns in 2023 these colour work fingerless mittens, with Trick and Treat on both sides, are perfect for a chilly Halloween night when fingers are needed for eating sweets. Worked from the bottom up with a chart for the colour work in just a total of 60 rows these mittens are made in 4ply wool so they are super cosy and quick to make.
Difficulty
Working colour from a chart, knit, purl and working in the round
Yarn and Notions
4ply sock yarn (fingering) approximately 110 meters / 120 yards. I have used Hobbii Rainbow Sock Wool one ball of each colour which is a 50g ball with 210 meters / 230 yards
Colour A – Purple
Colour B – Orange
Needles: A set of 2.75mm (US 1) double pointed needles
A set of 3.25mm (US 3) double pointed needles
Alternatively you can use a small circular needle, those designed for sock knitting
Tension
28 sts and 36 rows over 10 cm / 4 inch square in stocking stitch on the larger needle
Measurements
Size 1 has a 16.5cm / 6.5 inch circumference
Size 2 has a 19cm / 7.5 inch circumference
Length for both 17cm / 6.75 inches
