Tricolore Mittens
Time to try out some more complicated colorwork? Except for the cuff, these fitted mittens are worked using 3 colors throughout. Featuring a clear graphical pattern and an unusual thumb construction, they are a great introduction to experimenting with 3-color stranded knitting.
Working to given gauge will produce mittens to fit a 18 cm/7’’ hand circumference. Other sizes can be achieved by adjusting yarn weight and needle size.
Yarn requirements:
Fingering weight yarns with high elasticity, such as animal fiber yarns or blends. Sample is shown in Schachenmayr Regia 4-ply.
Approximately 130 m/142 yrds in color 1,
100 m/110 yrds in colors 2 & 3.

increasing
decreasing
picking up stitches
grafting/Kitchener stitch
Dimensions after blocking:
Width: 9 cm/3.5’’
