The Triga mittens were inspired by my Fields of Gold sweater - which included the same wheat grass motif. A common name for wild wheat grass, Triga captures the natural beauty of the leaf’s form. When knit with unspun yarn, these mittens will keep you toasty warm and beautifully showcase the fluffy, soft edges of the grass motif.
These mittens are worked in the round from the top down with interesting and delicate textures throughout. This is a good introductory pattern for knitters looking to learn some new, more advanced techniques in a manageable project size. Sizes

• 1 (2) to fit 6-8” (8-10”), 15-20 (20-25)cm hand circumference.
• Mittens are designed with a slight amount of negative ease for a cosy warm fit.

Yarn

• Unspun fingering weight held double throughout. Or Aran weight spun yarn held single.
• I recommend using Nutiden yarn for this design, but some similar yarns include: Lopi Plötulopi, Wild Wool Canadian Wool Discs, Wool Dreamers Manchelopis, or another pencil roving.
• Honer Och Eir - Nutiden: 100% Wool, 100g. Sample knit size 1 uses colorway Kvarts - 43 grams used.

Needles

• US 6 / 4 mm 22” / 56 cm circular needles for hand
• US 3 / 3.25 mm 22” / 56 cm circular needles for cuff.
• This pattern is designed to be knit using the magic loop method.
• Swatch to determine your gauge, adjust your needle size if necessary to match called for gauge. Needle size above is a suggestion.

Gauge
- 20sts x 30 rows to 4” / 10 cm using larger needles in stockinette stitch, after blocking.
