This is a great project for an advanced beginner who has knit projects in the round and is looking for an introduction to stranded colorwork knitting. Other techniques to practice in this piece include: tension, float management, and chart reading.

This sample was knit in Expression Fiber Arts Luster Worsted. I used 2 colorways, name unknown unknown (received it in a mystery pack).

I used approximately 48g (51yds/47 m) per each color.

Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern, but for best results I encourage you to use a wool fiber as it has great elasticity and responds very well to wet blocking.

Use contrasting colors to get a striking effect, or if you want a more muted effect, try 2 colors that are at least 2 shades darker/lighter from each other.

3x3 rib can bow out…if you want a more structured rib on the ends of the cowl, you may do 2x2 or 1x1 at your discretion.
