Trilogy
Kits for the small size are available at my Etsy shop here!
I named this pattern “Trilogy” because once I made one shawl, I had an idea for a second shawl, then a third- which became a buttoned cowl! I found this design to be quite addicting and am currently drooling over a few more yarns I would like to try for it.
I made three different pieces for this pattern. The first is a buttoned, sock yarn cowl, the second is a medium worsted shawl, and the third is a large, super bulky shawl.
All three pieces were made almost identically, using a simple pattern- the big difference between the three is the gauge. Though this pattern is listed for any weight/gauge yarn, gauge is important if you want the size to turn out as listed.
Small (buttoned cowl):
Gauge: 26 sts and 36 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch
Measurements: 29” around by 13.5” deep
US#4 40” circular needle
1 skein of Starbright Muse Fibers Stag
OR
about 275 yards fingering weight yarn
(175 if you choose not to add fringe)
Medium Shawl:
Gauge: 16 sts and 22 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch
Measurements: 60” wide by 26.5” deep
US#9 40” circular needle
3 skeins of Starbright Muse Fibers Elementary Worsted
OR
3 skeins of Sweetgeorgia Superwash Worsted
(100% superwash merino wool)
OR
about 580 yards of worsted weight yarn
Large Shawl:
Gauge: 8 sts and 12 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch
Measurements: 72” wide by 34” deep
US#17 40” circular needle
5 balls of Rowan Big Wool (100%wool)
OR
about 425 yards of super bulky yarn
I am modeling all three of these garments, and stand at 5’1” tall, to give you a better idea of their size.
If you want to adjust the size of this accessory, or use up some stash yarn to make it in a different weight, the pattern can be easily adjusted. Just keep on knitting until the shawl is the size you want it to be!
