The Trinity Stitch Cowl is a variation on a kerchief-style scarf, incorporating elements of a mini-shawl and tube-shaped cowls. It’s written for a single size, but includes notes about customization.

If you’ve knit a lot of mouse army patterns, you might note that this is a little like a winter version of the Dog Days 3 design. It’s also structurally related to Columnar Jointing.

Gauge:
Gauge for the cowl is a little more open than it is for the companion hats at 14 sts and 21 rows over 4”/10cm of blocked stockinette. This is a slightly open gauge in the bulky yarn shown, and will be a little looser if you work this cowl up in a worsted-weight yarn. Gauge is semi-important for this project—it will forgive going a little larger, but going smaller could make your finished piece too small to wear—and, as always, please use the needles you need to knit at gauge.

Materials:
About 210-250 yards of Lion Brand Scarfie, or another aran/light-bulky yarn
1 16-24” circular needle in US8-9/5.0-5.5mm, or size needed for gauge
2 removable stitch markers/yarn scraps
Tapestry needle
Optional: 2 DPNs in size needed for gauge
